General Questions & Answers

  • Whether a Carmelite can go out after once she has entered the cloistered?

    Usually, a Carmelite won’t go out after entering the Cloister, after completing her “come and see” period and going back home and taking the decision. But if any case of emergencies comes like serious hospital cases, for voting, or if the parents want to meet their child for the last time is she too desires.

  • Since you follow the liturgy in Syro Malabar rite, are you completely independent and autonomous?

    No. We are always under the governance of OCD (Latin Rite). we have got only the privilege to follow our liturgy in the rite.

  • What is the maximum number of sisters that can be included in one monastery?

    The maximum number is 21. When this number exceeds we will move forward with a new foundation in a new Diocese.

  • Have you got any earning way?

    No, we completely depend on alms. But we also do some offices like Host Making, Candle Making, Vestment Making, Scapular Making, Statue Making etc. to earn some livelihood.

  • How do you render the apostolic/ missionary service from your part?

    We contemplatives do not go for preaching, house visiting or likewise any apostolic mission. But we do help our Church in her apostolic mission through our devout and ardent prayer and a faithful life of mortification.
